Learning fire dancing is done in two steps:
First: Poi Classes
Classes are on a Thursday Evening 7 - 7:30pm
In the classes practice poi are used to learn and practice new tricks.
Second: Fire Safety Workshop
Safety is our biggest concern and so we have two rules in the studio:
1. You must be able to extinguish a fire before you make one
2. Never play with fire alone
The 4hr workshops are held on weekends and the following is covered in the workshop:
MSDS, Flashpoints and correct storage & use of various fuels.
Making and maintenance of all equipment.
How to handle emergencies, contain, control and extinguish fire - various types of fires. How to treat burns.
Beginners Poi
The workshop includes a video on safety, work books, starter first aid kit, towels and all materials needed to make your first poi or fixed stick.
You will perform your first burn and extinguish.
Once you have completed the workshop you may attend and in fact are encourage to attend all other workshops as refresher courses. Its important to always revise what you know.
